Contract Length:  12 months (with possibility of extension up to 36 months)

Start Date: November 2023 to be hired on annual basis

 

About US:

Partners for Community Health and Development Organisation (PACHEDO) is a development organization duly registered as NGO with Uganda NGO bureau and has been working in Uganda since 2007. PACHEDO is operational in the Districts of Gulu, , Lamwo, Amuru Adjumani, Yumbe, Terego and Kole Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Health/Nutrition, Protection; Food Security and Livelihoods; and climate change/Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Gulu City.

 

About NILE Project:

Through one of her donors- JICA- Japan International Cooperation Agency and NAM -Network for Action against Malnutrition, PACHEDO has received funding for a 36 months’ Nutrition Improvement & Livelihood Empowerment – (NILE) Project to be implemented in Adjumani refugee settlements (Ayilo I & II) and surrounding sub-counties of Dzaipi and Pakele in Adjumani district west Nile sub-region. PACHEDO is therefore actively seeking to recruit dynamic, highly motivated, Qualified and Competent persons to fill the positions indicated below for the NILE Project.

 

Job Summary:  The Advocacy Social & Behaviour Change Communication Officer will lead in all the SBCC activities in the NILE project that will include; planning, development of the NILE required materials, dissemination and roll out of community dialogues and behavior change modules, male engagement activities, coordinating with ministries and other relevant stakeholders in sharing and developing technical communication materials and managing digital, social media and documentation of best practices.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead Nutrition advocacy and lobbying process with relevant Stakeholders and Actors.
  • Responsible for formation of cultural and religious groups for both health and livelihoods advocacy
  • Support the NILE project manager/assistant (NAM – partner institutions) to conduct formative research and SBCC strategy development
  • Conduct community dialogues,
  • Conduct community awareness campaigns on health and nutrition using SNS, radio, theater performance
  • Facilitating training sessions of various groups
  • Facilitate community feedback meetings
  • A daily following up and monitor/supervise SBCC awareness sessions, and submitting progress reports.
  • Responsible for development, production and dissemination of SBCC messages to the targeted population.
  • Managing field based digital, social media and documentation of best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by project coordinator, the NILE project manager/assistant (NAM – partner institutions) and senior management of the organisation





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Behaviour Sciences, Social Sciences, Development studies, Adult and Community education, public health with extensive practical experience of not less than 3 years implementing similar project in SBCC and community engagement interventions. Master’s degree in the related field will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience preferable with a busy NGO implementing Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) related activities in Northern Region.
  • Experience in humanitarian context, implementation with an NGO and conducting Nutrition surveys and collecting meaningful data is desirable.
  • Proficiency in computer packages such as Microsoft word, Excel, power point, IT etc and others relevant to the position are of added advantage.
  • Excellent communications skills if English and local language both oral and written are desired.
