About US:
Makerere University –Johns Hopkins University (MU-JHU) Research Collaboration conducts clinical and translational research with a focus on HIV, TB and other conditions which affect the health and well-being of children, adolescents, women and their families. MUJHU was founded in 1988 as a collaboration between researchers from Makerere University and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA at a time when the AIDS epidemic was at its peak in Uganda, with an initial mission to improve the lives of families infected and affected by HIV through Research, Care and Training. In 2006, the MUJHU Research Collaboration was registered as a not-for-profit entity in Uganda entitled ‘MUJHU Care Limited’ with a continuation of the Collaboration’s vision and mission.
Job Summary: The Data Technician will be accountable to the Data Manager (BoostME Study) and work closely with the various study team members (Investigator and Study Coordinator)
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Electronic data entry and verification.
- Electronic data quality control to ensure that data is of good quality
- Track participant clinic visits.
- Print participants PTID labels
- Provide study teams with organized files for data collection.
- Identify any inconsistencies within the source documents to the Data Manager for verification and editing.
- Provide feedback regarding data issues to the study and project teams.
- Participate in protocol study trainings and meetings.
- Maintain Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subject Protection (HSP) certification.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Diploma in Statistics, IT, Medical Records or equivalent
- A minimum of two years of working experience in a busy institution.
- Prior experience with clinical or implementation science research would be an added advantage.
- The applicant should be computer literate especially with Microsoft Office packages.
- The desired person must be someone who has fast and accurate typing speeds, pays attention to detail, able to multi–task and willing to work beyond official work hours whenever the need arises.
- The person should have basic understanding of databases and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of statistical programs e.g. STATA, R, SPSS is an added advantage.
