About US:
The Inspectorate of Government (IG), was established in 1995 as a constitutional office. The IG’s mandate as per Articles 225,226 and 232 of the Constitution include: The promotion and fostering of strict adherence to the rule of law and principles of natural justice in administration, The elimination of corruption and abuse of authority in public offices and investigation of any act, omission, advice, decision or recommendation by a public officer, among other functions. The Inspectorate of Government is also charged with enforcing the Leadership Code of conduct.
Job Summary: The Supervisor will oversee work activities and ensure officers under him/her are allocated work activities in an effective manner so as to achieve quality results on time and within budget.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Supervisor will be responsible to the Manager in performing the following:-
- Set targets for the performance of the team in line with the Directorate goals and objectives.
- Contribute to and agree with the team on the work plans to meet the Directorate goals.
- Develop work schedules and obtain resources required to implement and complete assignments.
- Supervise, monitor, and report on the progress of allocated work activities; assist in resolving problems – providing constructive feedback as necessary.
- Delegate work activities and assign resources needed to the officers.
- Prepare, review, and recommend for approval high-quality team assignment reports; provide necessary accountability reports on assigned resources.
- Coach and train officers towards better team performance.
- Conduct performance reviews of officers; identify and follow up improvement action plans.
- Review institutional and Directorate’s policies, systems, processes, and standards.
- Implement and monitor adherence to institutional and Directorate policies, systems, processes and standards
Key Result Areas:
- To plan work activities and set goals that contribute to achieving the Directorate’s performance objectives.
- Organize and schedule a workflow to ensure that officers understand duties, responsibilities, and delegated tasks and are equipped to deliver quality results.
- Build and motivate the officers towards better team performance.
- Lead the team members to adhere to IG procedures and standards for better performance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:
- Law and Diploma in Legal Practice
- Commerce (Accounting Option)
- Public Administration and Management
- Finance and Accounting
- Social Sciences
- Business Administration (Accounting Option)
- Statistics
- Quantity Survey
- Quantitative Economics
- Economics
- Community Psychology
- Adult Education
- Education
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA.
- Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above fields.
- Applicants should have at least Six (6) years’ experience in investigative processes, procedures and handling of maladministration complaints
- Three years of experience at Senior or Principal Officer level or equivalent level of experience in Government or a similar and reputable organization.
- Knowledge and understanding of the functions of the IG.
- Experience in the implementation of public service policies, systems, and processes.
- Experience in a supervisory role with proven ability to initiate and plan for various work projects.
