Contract Length: 12 months (with possibility of extension up to 36 months)
Start Date: November 2023 to be hired on annual basis
About US:
Partners for Community Health and Development Organisation (PACHEDO) is a development organization duly registered as NGO with Uganda NGO bureau and has been working in Uganda since 2007. PACHEDO is operational in the Districts of Gulu, , Lamwo, Amuru Adjumani, Yumbe, Terego and Kole Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Health/Nutrition, Protection; Food Security and Livelihoods; and climate change/Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Gulu City.
About NILE Project:
Through one of her donors- JICA- Japan International Cooperation Agency and NAM -Network for Action against Malnutrition, PACHEDO has received funding for a 36 months’ Nutrition Improvement & Livelihood Empowerment – (NILE) Project to be implemented in Adjumani refugee settlements (Ayilo I & II) and surrounding sub-counties of Dzaipi and Pakele in Adjumani district west Nile sub-region. PACHEDO is therefore actively seeking to recruit dynamic, highly motivated, Qualified and Competent persons to fill the positions indicated below for the NILE Project.
Job Summary: The key task of the Office Security Guard will be to protect organization’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensuring the office premise is secure
- Your first duty as a security guard is to make your presence visible. At arrival, you must patrol the work area to make your presence known and to serve as a deterrent to criminals.
- Monitor the exterior and interior of the premises to ensure the absence of intruders or criminals.
- Keep daily record of activities within the premises and at the gate e.g. vehicles, visitors and staff entering and exiting including activities that pose security threat.
- Welcome visitors entering the premises as well as guard the entrance of the premises and screen visitors and staff to ensure they do not enter the premises with prohibited items or weapons.
- Screen visitors and staff to ensure they do not exit the premises with organization’s property.
- Prevent visitors from straying into prohibited areas within the premises
Ensuring that project equipment and other resources are well protected.
- Check facilities within the premises to make sure that they are secure as well as make sure that windows, doors and gates are properly locked after work hours.
- Keep for the staff in question possible valuable information that comes after work hours.
- Respond to security notifications and inform the police of serious security threats.
- Call the nearest fire services department in the case of fire outbreak
- Assist the police in the investigating cases of theft, rule violations and infractions that occur within the premises.
Compound maintenance
- Responsible for compound maintenance, ensuring that its slashed, flowers trimmed and made tidy
- Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum O- Level Certificate; A- Level Certificate is an added advantage.
- Basic training in security, with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working for a reputable organization
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
