Job Summary: CorpsAfrica is looking for an experienced trainer/educator to lead the CorpsAfrica training program in Uganda, which includes four major trainings throughout the course of the year: Pre-Service Training, In-Service Training #1, In-Service Training #2, and Close of Service Conference. The Training Officer is responsible for providing all of the logistical and administrative support needed for each of these training. The Training officer is also responsible for leading and facilitating the human-centered design (HCD) and asset-based community development (ABCD) training as well as other components of the overall training program. She/He must possess a demonstrated passion for and commitment to youth leadership, participatory community development, and training. The Training officer reports to the Uganda Country Director.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate the HCD and ABCD training as well as other components of the overall training program
- Review and customize the training content/materials
- Develop and maintain training materials to the highest standards for internal and external training
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training and modify materials as appropriate
- Organize and manage the schedule and all logistical aspects of training, including but not limited to venues, meals, transportation, printing, materials, and equipment
- Work with and coordinate all CorpsAfrica/Uganda and GSO staff, alumni, and outside trainers, presenters, and facilitators involved in the training in Uganda, including working closely with the Chief Training Officer and Regional Training Manager
- Support and oversee Language and Cultural Facilitator(s) and their training
- Identify and support homestay families in the training host community and work with communities and community leaders to support Human Centered Design practical training sessions
- Co-facilitate training for rural communities
- Other responsibilities as requested by the Country Director
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Education, Project Planning and Management or any other related degrees
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in facilitating hands-on, participatory learning experiences for youth
- Ability to plan ahead and work well with a wide variety of people
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented, punctual, and results-oriented
- Knowledge of HCD and ABCD
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, integrity, and judgment
- A passion for and commitment to youth leadership and community-led development
- Excellent professional speaking, writing, and presentation skills in English (fluency in local languages and/or French is a plus)
- Excellent computer skills (email, calendar, and Google Workspace Tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.))
- Ability to work nights or weekends when necessary
