Maisha Meds is an organisation dedicated to improving health care in Africa. We began full-time operations in 2017 and over the past few years have grown to support over 1.5 million patient encounters annually across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, and Zambia with our suite of software products. We are building the financial and technology infrastructure to enable global health funders to pay for health outcomes at the last mile, with a focus on malaria case management (and results from a RCT with UC Berkeley due out later this year), injectable contraceptives, prenatal care, HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, and COVID testing and vaccination.
Job Summary: Maisha Meds is hiring! We’re looking for an Associate to be seconded at the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) in Uganda in close collaboration with the Maisha Meds team.
Towards this end, we are looking to hire a secondee within NMCP as a Program Officer reporting in to the National Private Sector Coordinator, for the next 18 months to take a lead role in managing and integrating private sector data into NMCP decision making, alongside other private sector coordination activities aligned with the NMCP’s priorities in regions of Uganda where Maisha Meds is active.
Who We’re Looking For: An enthusiastic and diligent team member who has experience in data analysis, reporting, presentation, partner coordination, and liaising between government entities and the private sector. You will be based at the NMCP offices in Kampala, Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the NMCP in accessing and analyzing private sector data on malaria prevention and control activities to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement and collaboration between the NMCP and the private sector.
- Analyze and report on the stock and inventory status of malaria-related products in the private sector to improve the NMCP’s visibility on private sector access and delivery.
- Lead the preparation and reporting of malaria data from the private sector to the Ministry of Health
- Support resource mobilization for the private sector, including the inclusion of private sector in Global Fund planning and budgeting processes where appropriate
- Play a supporting role in a program around LLIN distribution/promotion through the private sector, including developing tools and systems to track and monitor distribution and use of LLINs
- Support improved case management across the private sector through the development and dissemination of tools and training materials
- Facilitate and participate in any evaluations, assessments and operational studies relating to the private sector’s role in malaria care in Uganda
- Provide other support to the Head of Private Sector at the NMCP as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Three years of work experience in a public health related private sector field
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate effective working relationships with government bodies and other stakeholders
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including familiarity with data visualization platforms to support the interpretation of complex data sets and clear communication of findings to a wide range of stakeholders
- Proficiency at Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and/or other data-analysis tools
- Proficiency in written and oral communication; fluency in English
- Familiar with malaria case management
- Previous experience working with government bodies or National level NGO
- Prior knowledge of malaria control and prevention programs
