About US:
Uganda Performing Right Society (UPRS) is a not-for-profit Collective Management Organization (CMO) licensed by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) under the Copyright Act of Uganda to represent Composers of musical works, Performers, producers, authors, publishers and performers of sound recordings respectively. UPRS is mandated to collect license fees from commercial users of music both public performance and broadcasting to distribute royalties to their respective rights holders.
Job Summary: The Licensing Officer will grow the Licensing business by licensing public users of music in line with the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act 2006 and any amendments thereto.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver high levels of professionalism and customer service.
- Conduct sensitization drives to sensitize music users and the general public on Copyright Laws and the Society Mandate.
- Guide licensees when filling out required documents and verify information.
- Issue invoices to assessed licensees.
- Monitor and keep a record of all transactions and prepare monthly reconciliations and reports.
- Monitor and respond to queries and requests from licensees.
- Send out notices and reminders to licensees reminding them of their dues and due dates.
- Undertake research and keep up to date with industry trends and best practice.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Licensing processes.
- Maintain a licensing dashboard.
- Prepare and implement an annual work plan, forecast and performance targets for licensing activities.
- Execute any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor, in line with his/her mandate.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A relevant qualification in Sales or Marketing.
- At least three years of relevant experience in a similar position.
- Good working knowledge of sales and customer service.
- Knowledge of the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptionally high standards of customer service.
- Strong, clear and concise communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office packages Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- A Detail oriented person.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Problem-solving skills with a professional attitude.
- Knowledge and experience in managing office processes including QuickBooks.
- Highly levels of attention to detail.
- Able to deal with people from all walks of life.
- Impeccable listening skills, calm and tactful with ability to deal with
- difficult/aggressive people.
- A person with integrity.
