Job Summary: The Communications Associate is an excellent writer and editor, a digitally savvy creative thinker, and an energetic team player. They are entrepreneurial—hungry for a range of growth opportunities as a communications professional, learning from colleagues and collaborating across a global, mission-driven, and fast-paced team. They are highly detail-oriented and able to execute several projects at once, with the ability to communicate clearly and ask questions needed to keep the trains moving. They are a self-starter, staying current with emergent trends and platforms and taking the initiative to pitch and help execute new ideas for building GHC’s credibility and visibility. They are also a great listener and quick learner, with the humility to understand and support the needs of our team.

The Communications Associate sits on GHC’s Communications Team, reporting to the Communications Manager while collaborating closely with colleagues across teams in all GHC countries of operation. This is an entry-level role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Social Media / Media & public engagement:
- Lead social media content curation and drive engagement on key platforms
- Track and monitor GHC’s following on all social media accounts
- Conduct research and update social media strategy periodically
- Help maintain GHC’s media lists, conduct media scans, and prep visuals and talking points for media opportunities
- Help maintain and execute an up-to-date public engagement strategy
- Track community-wide engagement and curate internal and external updates
Content & Collateral Creation:
- Solicit, edit, format, track, and publish submissions to GHC’s Medium publication AMPLIFY
- Help maintain and execute an up-to-date editorial strategy
- Support external collateral creation, including annual reports and donor-facing materials
- Conduct regular materials audits and update/organize materials as needed.
- Help spearhead the collection, drafting, and organization of stories demonstrating GHC’s impact
Multimedia and Email Marketing:
- Help draft communications to GHC’s community introducing select programming opportunities, event recaps, key announcements, etc
- Execute branding requests utilizing Canva
- Manage GHC’s suite of branded templates
- Manage GHC’s Flickr page and serve as point on photography and video
- Support the maintenance and updating of ghcorps.org, GHC’s website
- Provide additional input and support as needed across GHC’s print, digital, and experiential learning platforms
- Support on the creation of email templates on MailChimp
Matrixed Support:
- Support Country Teams, Community Impact Team, and Communications Manager in liaising with partners and preparing materials for communications and advocacy-focused aspects of GHC’s leadership development programming
- Support with creating and updating donor-facing content and coordinating communications aspects of campaigns, events, and other funding initiatives as needed
- Provide ad hoc mentorship/support for fellows and alumni
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An enthusiastic advocate for Global Health Corps’ mission and values. You are inspired to empower and support leaders building a movement for global health equity. - You are DEI-centered and have a passion for supporting teams. You strive to make every interaction with staff a positive one. You approach every aspect of work, big and small, with a critical lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and have a passion for creating a work environment where all teammates feel valued and supported.
- You have 1-2 years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, advocacy, or similar with a demonstrated understanding of social media, including current trends.
- You have keen attention to detail and a design eye, including experience using a platform like Canva
- A problem solver who owns your work. You overcome obstacles in your work by identifying them, adapting to new information, and proactively devising solutions. You take action before being asked and hold yourself accountable when you set goals
- An action-oriented, resourceful, and collaborative team member. You possess a “get it done” attitude, with the ability to stay focused and nimble in a dynamic environment. You work effectively across teams, time zones, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

- Authorized to work and reside in one of the following GHC countries of operation: Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia.
- Education: The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree required.
- Applicants who are GHC Fellowship Alumni must have completed at least one year of full-time employment after their fellowship year.
