Job Summary: For its work in Kampala, Uganda, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Finance Officer – National Position.
As the Finance Officer, you will be responsible for record-keeping of financial documents, petty cash management, preparation of coding stamps, FundtracLight (FTL) entries for bank cashbooks, payroll preparation, cash requests and budget controls. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s activities are in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing submitted service provider vouchers and invoices to ensure all supporting documentation is attached prior to processing
- Assist in the preparation and approval of the payment summary sheet prior to the upload of payments to the banking platform on time
- Take responsibility for petty cash management in consultation with the Finance Manager
- Act as bank agent for deposits and withdraws for Malteser International’s bank accounts in consultation with the Finance Manager
- Assist in the preparation of monthly bank cashbooks, cash counts and reconciliations for review by the Finance Manager/Country Operations Coordinator
- Prepare coding stamps for bank cashbooks and ensure they are signed and scanned on time in consultation with the Finance Manager
- Assist with organizational audits, both internal and external, with the scanning of all financial documents and entry into FTL, as well as with the review of procurement request forms (PRFs), while ensuring correct use of donor codes and MI budget lines
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration-Accounting or equivalent degree, and/or professional certification in accounting strongly preferred or equivalent experience
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position
- Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively to new policies and procedures
- Highly detail oriented and organized
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Fully computer literate (Microsoft Office, accounting software)
