The company, invites experienced and reputable candidates to apply for the position of Permit Assistant based in Uganda.
Job Summary: As a HSE Engineer, you will assist HSE manager to complete the normal operation of the company’s HSE system and continuous improvement of on-site production environment and safety conditions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will ensure the company’s safety performance and improve the company’s safety culture level.
- Capacity of establishment and implementation of HSE management system, delivering and deploying HSE training, audit, and performance improvement programs.
- Providing analysis of HSE data within area of responsibility. Reports on progress on implementation of Sustainability Objectives and key performance indicators (KPI) as required.
- Contributing to assessing emerging trends and legislation in HSE and communicates relevant information on legal requirements. Supports operation in compliance with standards and respective legal obligations.
- Periodically inspect the work site, report any unsafe acts/conditions to the area supervisor and/or foreman, provide recommendations to correct deficiencies and follow-up to verify corrective actions have been taken;
- Planning and delivering risk assessment and management to support the continuous improvement in HSE management system
- Participate in incident investigations and reporting of incidents on Site;
- Contributing to driving behavioral change and continuous improvement though delivery of training and competence initiatives and expert support to the project in line with yearly HSE plan agreed with EACOP project.
- Supporting the sharing of best practice. Coordinates reporting on HSE performance and support delivery of Group audit program
- Contributing to and/or plans and executes Health, Safety and Environment performance and Corporate Responsibility related projects
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. or another equivalent certificate.
- Degree in engineering, safety management or other HSE-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university and graduate degree is preferred.
- At least 5-8 years of experience in HSE, and in oil & gas industrial area is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with major environmental regulatory and permitting programs addressing subjects including but not limited to: air quality, water quality, hazardous chemical management, industrial Safety, etc.
- High energy, motivation and commitment to take personal ownership of issues and drive them to exceptional outcomes.
- Experience with and knowledge of independent standards organizations and certification programs such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.
- Professional certification/credentials in the areas of safety management, environmental management industrial hygiene or engineering that are issued by a recognized professional organization are preferred.
- Strong “consultant” skills, including the ability to influence and motivate leaders and employees through collaborative engagement and building/maintaining relationships.
- Strategic thinking and leadership and planning skills.
- Strong business orientation and analytical skills.
- Ability to interact at client and senior management level and represent the company externally with government and other 3rd parties.
- Have experience in HSE-related national law, municipality regulations and industry best practices is preferred.
- Ability to work as a team member and team leader.
- Fluency in the English writing and speaking.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to a broad range of people and audiences as circumstances dictate.
- Smoothly use Computer tools of sets of Microsoft Office and others.
- Follow up and implementation skills and self-starter requiring minimum supervision.
- Experience with TOTAL ENERGIES is preferred.
- A medical certificate within one year
- A certificate of good conduct.
