Job Summary: The Manager Enterprise Risk Management will be mainly responsible for devising a Risk Management roadmap that delivers increased assurance, effectiveness, and efficiency regarding the achievement of UETCL strategic and business unit objectives in conjunction with the MD/CEO. The role holder is ultimately mandated with the management and governance of the Risk Management Framework in UETCL and will work to embed functional risk management in all areas of the organisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the Risk Vision and Risk Strategy, the Risk Management Policy, and the Risk Appetite Statement on behalf of the Board of Directors as appropriate and in line with the Corporate Business Plan whilst making recommendations for material changes.
- Supervise the Risk Assessment exercises, coordinating the development of the Mitigation Implementation Plan (MIP), monitoring its implementation, and reporting to the relevant stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Provide technical guidance to departments in establishing Key Risk Indicators, developing Risk Registers, as well as ensuring adequate review, oversight, and updates.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Risk team in the development, analysis, and preparation of specific Risk reports relating to various aspects of the business
- Develop programmes intended to grow the risk culture across the organisation
- Provide reporting to Management and the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee on risk exposures, effectiveness of mitigations to address risks; and the continued adequacy of the risk management policy
- Oversee, design, and provide technical guidance for Business Continuity Initiatives at UETCL, including development, training, maintaining, and testing Business Continuity Plans and strategies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree with honours in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, and any other related field.
- Possession of a professional qualification in either CISA, ACCA, CPA, or CIA.
- Must possess certifications in Risk Management in either ISO 31000, ORM, or CRISC.
- A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, and any other related field is an added advantage.
- At least five years of proven experience in enterprise risk management.
- Experience in the Electricity Supply Industry is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience having led and supervised teams.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of various international risk management standards.
- Demonstrated ability to implement a Risk Management framework.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience of Risk, Audit, Information Technology, Compliance, Strategy and governance.
- Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
