About US:
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the companies Act (Cap 110), the Laws of Uganda and in conformity with the Electricity Act, 199 UEGCL started operation on 1st April 2001 and is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, with the head office located in Kampala. The mandate of UEGCL is to establish, acquire, maintain and operate electricity generation facilities as well as promote Research and Development in the Electricity generation sector while running the company on sound business principals.
Job Summary: The Learning and Development Manager will head and develop the Learning and growth in the Company and be a key lead for learning and development endeavors of the Company
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Learning and Development strategy
- Manage the talent management framework
- Design training methodology for the business
- Manage the competence framework
- Conduct returns on investment for Learning and development initiatives
- Develop and manage annual budgets for the training unit.
- Design and offer suggestions for materials development and modification.
- Implementation and supervision of training programmes.
- Develop training needs analysis programmes and ensure training needs are effectively identified and appropriate training solutions delivered.
- Draft training guidelines/policies and review existing ones.
- Deliver /facilitate training for staff members of UEGCL at different levels using relevant training materials.
- Acquire audio/visual aids and training materials for the unit.
- Coordinate workshops, seminars, and courses initiated or hosted by UEGCL.
- Analyze program results to enhance training effectiveness
- Work with the Chief Human Resource Officer to determine HR plans that have a direct bearing on capacity building i.e. recruitment, promotion etc and plan for necessary intervention.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resource Management or organization psychology.
- Seven or more years of senior level management experience with a large workforce in a busy and dynamic HR department
- Demonstrated leadership and negotiation skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships and partnership with key stakeholders
- Excellent understanding of learning and development foundation principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication, writing, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high level of integrity
