Job Summary: The System Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the support, maintenance, and administration of the organization’s server and storage infrastructure, as well as end-user computer systems. Manage and optimize systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of mission-critical server compute resources on a daily basis.
- Implement cost-effective enterprise system virtualization platform to enhance efficiency and resource utilization.
- Install, modify, and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems, ensuring smooth operation and compatibility.
- Design and implement automated network and system monitoring platforms with SMS and email event notifications to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Develop and document procedures for the installation and management of host computer operating systems, network operating systems, and other components to ensure consistency and standardization.
- Establish and enforce security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, acts of nature, and user abuse.
- Create and maintain procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and applications to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Design and implement host-based intrusion detection systems and enhanced logging platforms to strengthen server security and facilitate incident response.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the data centre and computer host systems, including hardware, software, and critical infrastructure such as air-conditioning, UPS, and fire protection systems.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in systems administration and recommend innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reliability, and security.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
- Certification Microsoft Active Directory, CISCO systems certification(s), Oracle Systems, Virtual Server technologies (e.g., VMWARE)
- ITIL Foundation training or certification, demonstrating knowledge of IT service management best practices.
- Two to four years of technical experience supporting Enterprise Infrastructure systems in medium to large organizations.
- Expertise in managing various operating systems, storage, virtualization, networking, and database technologies.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and a proactive approach
- Strong proficiency in managing Unix/Linux and Windows-based systems, including administration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Experience working with multiple storage and backup subsystems, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Broad knowledge of ICT infrastructure management and control techniques and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
