Reports to: Head of Finance

Manages: All Drivers

 

About US:

Graphic Systems Uganda is the largest printing & packaging company in Uganda. It supplies indoor and outdoor print advertising collateral, commercial printing, cartons, labels and promotional items. In addition the company manufactures corporate wear and garments. The company currently has a fleet of 30+ vehicles.

 

Job Summary:  The primary objective of the employee is to oversee and manage all aspects of a company’ fleet of vehicles. The employee will be responsible for the efficient and cost effective management of the company’ fleet of vehicles ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing performance and supporting the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies for efficient fleet management, including route planning.
  • Tracking of company fleet via GPS tracking solution and escalate if any variation occurs from the route plan.
  • Handling 3rd party fleet suppliers (rented/hired vehicles).
  • Ensure all drivers are trained on safe driving practices.
  • Handle HR related issues of drivers and escalate as and when required.
  • Coordinate with maintenance team to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and are in good working order.
  • Coordinating and supporting logistics team with export logistics as and when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations pertaining to vehicle operations, driver licensing, etc.
  • Maintain and update documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Identity and mitigate potential risks associated with fleet operations like accidents, theft and damage. Implement strategies to ensure safety and security of vehicles and drivers.
  • Identify areas for cost savings.
  • Any other duties assigned.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Qualification: Diploma/Degree in Transport & Logistics. A qualification in Accounting will be an added advantage.
  • Three to four years of experience in Transport & Logistics Department, managing a fleet of at least 10 vehicles.
  • Citizenship: Any (ideally Ugandan or East African)
  • Linguistic skills: Fluent in English (written & verbal).
  • Proven work experience as a Fleet Manager or similar role
  • Analytical mind-set and strong problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail to ensure records are kept as needed
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work with various departments
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Fleet Manager
  • Age: At least 30 -35 years

 

Remuneration: Negotiable

Contract Type: Full Time
