Job Summary: The Project Management Office is the information hub for projects and programs within the portfolio and involves reporting, quality control, information management, financial tracking, risk tracking, change control, support and knowledge management from experience.
A project manager takes full responsibility for the successful delivery of business/technical solutions in support of the strategic, operational objectives of BOAU both large work streams and small enhancements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Management (60%)
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, including schedules, scope definition, cost estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk mitigation plans, and issue resolution plans and prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures as a part of the project governance.
- Control/coordinate the work of the project team, allocating tasks, monitoring progress, ensuring awareness of responsibilities and securing commitment to successful project delivery.
- Monitoring and controlling projects against the plan, budget, benefits and scope, ensuring any variances and exceptions are flagged and managed accordingly.
- Identifying and monitoring KPIs that serve to highlight capacity constraints and over-commitment of resources.
- Identify and manage all programme/project issues and risks including their appropriate escalation and contingency management.
- Responsible for governance standards across the project, including tracking, monitoring and status reporting
- Liaise with Product owners and other business units across the bank to ensure a synergistic and coordinated approach to the achievement of business objectives.
- Ensure successful Post Implementation Evaluation (PIE) reviews.
- Conduct regular meetings to discuss and obtain feedback on projects in order to monitor progress and ensure successful and timely implementation.
- Manage and lead project team, provide assistance to less experienced staff by giving guidance and supporting on-the-job training, as appropriate.
- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal Bank of Africa Uganda Policies and Policy Standards.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Strategy Management (40%)
- Support management with the strategy formulation on an annual basis, coordinating with all bank’s functional teams to develop the bank-wide strategy.
- Develop the Bankwide strategy work plan, and assist strategy contributors in the formulation of work plans.
- Drive monitoring by providing performance reports on strategy execution.
- Analyze performance and provide recommendations for strategy execution.
- Conduct regular meetings with strategy contributors to identify areas of improvement and drive execution.
- Conduct post-evaluation reviews of strategy and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Technology; Business; or a related field required
- At least three to five years of successful management experience of individual projects and project portfolios ideally working within Financial Services.
- Professional Certifications including PMP or Prince2.
- Good computer / MS Office suite skills, especially in Excel.
- General understanding of the nature, culture, operations and tactical priorities of the project management office.
- Broad knowledge of bank strategies and tactical plans.
- A sound business/industry understanding of financial services.
