Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives responsible for Standardization, Quality Assurance, Metrology (Measurement), and Laboratory Testing (SQMT) with the objectives of facilitating fair trade, promoting local industries and protecting consumers.
Job Summary: The front desk Officer will be responsible for handling front office reception, providing secretarial, clerical and administrative support as well as general reception security in order to ensure that Bureau’s mandate is executed in an effective and efficient manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome visitors by greeting them, in person or over the telephone Answer and or refer inquiries as appropriate.
- Maintain employee and Department directories.
- Direct visitors to Offices or Officers accordingly.
- Maintain reception security by following and enforcing procedures.
- Maintain and monitor the visitor’s book and issue visitor passes.
- Maintain telecommunication system both internal and external and record staff external calls for accountability purposes.
- Re-direct calls as appropriate and take messages when required.
- Open and date stamp all general correspondences and route them to the right offices.
- Provide secretarial support whenever required.
- Maintain safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules or regulations.
- Receive, record and route all employee applications on behalf of the Executive Director.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) Front Desk Officer job must hold an Honours Degree in either Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations from a Recognised University.
- Three years of work experience in a busy reception environment Specialized training in Customer care is an added advantage.
- Must be computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet applications
- The successful candidate needs to be a team player, an excellent communicator with good oral communication skills, a good listener, exhibit professionalism and customer focus, be respectful and culture sensitive.
- Age: Between 25 and 35 years
