Job Summary:  The Hardware Engineer – Backup Control Centre will be tasked with the provision of technical support to the Senior Control Engineer in implementing all the support the Senior Control Engineer in implementing all the hardware located at the UETCL National control Center.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install the control systems hardware/software in accordance with manufactures’ standards.
  • Implement expansion of the control system when more objects are to be controlled remotely by the control system.
  • Implement routine and curative maintenance to the control system and auxiliary equipment in line with the manufacture’s established standards to achieve 98.8% availability of the system.
  • Produce and maintain an activity plan and inventory of spares for Control System and Auxiliary equipment.
  • Implement hardware interface of control system to the power system to achieve effective control and monitoring of the power system.
  • Ensure that specifications for the Network Manager System spares are produced, procurement initiated and follow up the entire process to its logical conclusion.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelors’ degree with honours in Electrical engineering from a recognised institution.
  • At least two years of experience in SCADA Systems Hardware for power systems control operations.
  • Good knowledge of Software maintenance specifics.
  • IT skills.
  • Communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Customer relations skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Analytical skills.
