Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Officer will safeguard the assets of Light for the World against fraud, loss or misuse and ensure proper documentation and processing of the organisation’s finances and support in carrying out the responsibilities of the department. He/she is primarily responsible for, but is not limited to review of payments, uploading payments in the system, proper record keeping. The Finance Officer is aware of and adheres to Light for the world standards in all activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle finance matters for Light for the World’s various programmes, with a focus on requisitions and payments.
- Ensure that all costs and travel requests have adequate approval prior to processing and follow up all discrepancies identified.
- Review and process payments ensuring that the documents are legal and authentic and that all relevant and adequate support documentation is attached.
- Ensure that payments are made promptly and vendor accounts reconciled from time to time.
- Record financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Provide assistance where necessary during internal and external audits.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and annual work planning.
- Support with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual and adhoc financial reports and forecasts.
- Ensure that financial documents are properly filed and kept safely at all times.
- Act as an agent to the bank accounts.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a University degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
- A minimum of at least three years of working experience with international development organisation and grants management is required.
- Capacity to multi-task and be able to adhere to tight deadlines, and excellent time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and fluency in English.
- The ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and demonstrate discretion in discharging assigned responsibilities.
- A strong accounting experience, knowledge of QuickBooks and experience in dealing with complex budgets are added advantages.
- Excellent people skills with experience in collaborating in a diverse and dynamic team
- Innovative and strategic thinker always ready to adapt and learn.
- Technology savvy with proficiency in the use of MS Excel and other Office software packages.
- High levels of integrity and accountability.
- Commitment to Light for the World’s mandate and values.
- Experience or at least an appreciation of working with people with disability and disability inclusion as a whole.
