Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To interest and recruit potential farmers into barley growing
- To register potential farmers and report on acreage available for barley production from season to season
- To requisition for the required farming inputs including seed, fertilizer and other agrochemicals and ensuring that they are effectively distributed and records documented
- To train growers on good recommended agricultural practices
- To ensure adherence to key harvest and post-harvest handling practices
- To ensure quantity and barley quality targets are achieved from season to season
- To stay abreast with developments in research and technology to ensure growers are evolving from time to time
- To facilitate farmer institutional development and group formation and advise on measure to increase production
- Ensure weekly and monthly reporting requirements from management are met from time to time
- Promote sustainable farming practices
