Job Summary: We are looking for a competent Education Program Officer to be based in Kampala, Uganda.
The Education Programme Officer will represent FCA in different fora and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, building the capacity of education staff, organizing meetings and training workshops, providing technical support and mentorship, conducting field visits and follow-ups, preparing communication and training materials, providing technical guidance for work plans and proposals, supporting the MEAL team, participating in program assessments and reviews, and identifying project impacts and good practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represent FCA in coordination mechanism with other relevant sector organizations and network such as the EiE working group and relevant Task Teams and maintain strong working relationships and effective and quality implementation of education activities.
- Build/strengthen the capacity of education staff and relevant education stakeholders on educational approaches innovations, as required.
- Organize meetings and training workshops for teachers and field staff to implement education project activities and innovations/technical approaches.
- Support conduct training review meetings with staff and teachers to check on implementation progress, gaps/challenges, assess impact and come up with possible solutions and way forward for smooth implementation of the skills and knowledge acquired during training.
- Provide regular technical support and mentorship to the project staff in implementation, monitoring, support supervision and reporting.
- Conduct frequent field visits and follow-ups to ensure implementation meets the quality standards and is on track as originally planned.
- Prepare communication and training materials and develop new sensitization and training approaches.
- Provide technical guidance to education staff during the development of work plans, donor reports, budget reviews, and proposals development.
- Support the MEAL team and the project managers to ensure the high-quality program delivery through ensuring the MEAL are articulate in the program implementation.
- Closely work with the MEAL team to design data collection tools, program monitoring, evaluation and learning tools for the projects.
- Participate in assessing program results and impact and also participate in the internal reviews of the program and reflection forums.
- Provide technical input into producing timely, accurate, compliant and quality reports for projects, and recommend any areas of improvement.
- Actively participate in the development and dissemination of Education and Communication (IEC) material as may be required.
- Identify and profile project impact, success stories, and most significant change stories and good practices.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Education
- Previous experience in Secondary education projects is an added advantage (minimum 5 years)
- Experience in implementing Education Programs in a refugee setting
- Experience in conducting trainings for Teachers
- Knowledge in current trends in Education in Emergencies, and curriculum development in Uganda.
- Proven experience and capacity in project management, including project financial management
- Flexible and capable of working and living in difficult circumstances in a multicultural environment
- Detailed and thorough understanding of the operational refugee context in Uganda
- Previous experience in managing donor grants
- Excellent inter-personal and inter-cultural skills
- Ability to travel/frequent field visits to all 4 target settlements/districts
