NALWEYO SEED Company (NASECO) is the first private Ugandan seed company started production of improved seed production in 1996 and 10 years down the road we are one of the leading innovators and producers of seeds in Uganda and the great lakes region. We market our products to international and local NGO, wholesale and retail distributors around the region, and we are always pushing beyond the expected with its state-of-the-art products, a few of the company’s most recent development are on Upland Rice, Maize, Sunflower and sorghums.

 

Job Summary:  The Chief Finance Officer provides strategic direction and leadership in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls and financial reporting to achieve outstanding business performance, efficiency and growth.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coach the departments of sales, business development, finance and administration.
  • Analyze the company’s financial strengths and weaknesses and propose strategic direction basing on internal data, the external environment and industry specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide expert financial advice on market expansion, product development and capital investments.
  • Responsible for overall planning, forecasting and preparation of annual budgets.
  • Monitor and ensure full compliance with statutory obligations; including but not limited to taxation, business laws and regulations and industry related compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage the appraisal of all new business proposals, projects, and partnerships.
  • Promote a result-based performance management system; manage, coach and support business units of Finance, Sales & marketing and Business Development

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a B. Com (Accounting option) or related field, Master’s Degree in Business Administration is desirable;
  • Eight years of experience in financial management in a reputable organization with a minimum of five years in a senior management position;
  • Knowledge of the seed or related field is an added advantage;
  • Previous experience stimulating companies to new growth levels;
  • Experienced leading teams and effectively implementing result oriented management systems;
  • Strategic planning and execution skills;
  • Budgeting, planning, administrative and organizing skills;
  • High degree of integrity; Advanced Excel skills and good grasp of applied technologies.
