Job Title: System Administrator – UNIX & VM

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, logging and support Linux (RHEL/Suse/Ubuntu/CentOS/Solaris or any other) operating systems and exposure to the UNIX flavours (HP-UX, Solaris & AIX or any other).
- Fixing and analyzing bottlenecks for UNIX related issues across all level and or resolve major incidents and technical escalations within agreed SLAs and quality which includes but not limited to:
- Problem Management: Perform root cause analysis for problems and major incidents, provide workarounds to ensure business continuity and prepare RCA reports.
- Change Management: Prepare Implementation plan, rollback plan and test plan, risk and impact analysis for critical or complex changes. Create and review the change plan and documentation
- Participate in CAB meetings as and when needed and assist change manager in techno-operations decision process
- Perform advance tasks such as, capacity planning, performance monitoring, provide recommendations for improvement and implement or oversee implementation of the recommendations.
- Perform system software upgrades including planning / scheduling, testing, coordination, and maintaining integrity of operating system environment.
- Harden operating system parameters in line with client / Dimension Data security policy, standards or best practices.
- Respond to outages both during normal business hours and after-hours on a need basis (on-call support).
- Coordinating and interfacing with outside vendors, end users, other department team members, and service providers to resolve issues.
- Analyze data, oversee and contribute to service improvements.
- Documentation, knowledge sharing and training of L1 & L2 members. Oversee tasks executed by L1 & L2 members and stand in for them if needed.
Key Result Areas:
- Time to reduce server outages resolution to minimum.
- Monitoring Server Uptime, Disk Activity, Page File Usage, Context Switches, Time Synchronization, Usage of Handles, Process activity, Network traffic etc.
- Perform server upgrades/maintenance (e.g., add RAM) to staging & production servers (in accordance to downtime schedule agreed with Application team)
- Ensuring Compliance to Policy requirement by all stake holders.
- Clearing Audit & closure of Incidents (if any).
