The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act 2013 to regulate Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Postal sub-sectors. In carrying out its mandate and mission of driving the development of a robust communications sector in the country.

 

Job Summary: The Senior Officer, Enforcement will provide legal and enforcement support and advice to the Commission in accordance with the law for the efficient running of the day-to-day operations of the Commission.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting legal research and prepare legal briefs in the preparation for cases going to Court and compile and give evidence in Court.
  • Participate in conducting periodic evaluation of operators and together with relevant units, compile compliance status reports of operators in respect of licenses and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct investigations and interview witnesses and perpetrators, observing, investigating, and gathering evidence, taking formal witness statements, and liaising with the Enforcement Team
  • Identifying and recommending appropriate remedial and punitive action during the conduct of investigations.
  • Undertaking enforcement action in line with the relevant laws, regulations, licenses and agreements in respect of licensed operators;
  • Undertaking enforcement action against illegal operators in line with the Commission’s mandate.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in Law;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Laws; and a Post Graduate Diploma in legal practice
  • Enrolled an advocate of the High Court of Uganda
  • At least four years of relevant working experience in a similar corporate setting.
