Job Summary: The Communications Assistant will support the department in content creation, coordination of communications department related work in support of implementation of Amref Health Africa’s projects Communications plans and country level communication plans .
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifying , collecting and generating ‘good news’ stories from programmes/projects for internal and external use
- Developing a content calendar for the social media Amref Social Media pages .
- Understanding the existing policies on image and content policy and implement them correctly
- Supporting in the development of IEC materials for various project
- Providing regular updates, success stories, profiles and other information for the web
- Developing and maintaining a database and email distribution lists of relevant media contacts
- Developing and maintaining a database and email distribution list of relevant stakeholders, supporters and partners
- Developing Individual fundraising networks
- Supporting project-based media and public outreaches including driving media coverage to promote AMREF and its strategic areas. Coordination, planning and management of diverse events and materials to promote and raise AMREF’s visibility
- Conceptualization and implementation of activities, events, materials targeted to AMREF’s key stakeholders and partners
- Preparing monthly reports For activities implemented by different Projects.
- Responsible over all Communications support to Communication and Fundraising Manager such as the d ay to day consultations from the projects and communication work plan .
- Responsible for branding and visibility support to the Communications department .
- Events support in line with the organizational calendar
- Developing a data bank of national and district level events and forums AMREF can participate in.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or any relevant field.
- At least two years of experience
- Hands-on knowledge and experience in relevant communications and fundraising activities.
- Experience in project Communications, local and international Health campaigns and media engagement.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High competence levels in using Microsoft word, Excel and Power Point
- Strong skills in teamwork and networking. Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
