Job Summary:  The Senior Desktop Support will provide technical support for the personal computing and communications infrastructure for Mcdermott locations within Uganda, to assist in the IT Support plan and daily basis activities, report via tickets all issues and. This position will be based at the Mcdermott Uganda Ltd Offices at the Jobsite. In support of our commitment to the development of the local community, Ugandan national applicants will be given priority.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Site IT Manager by providing day-to-day personal computer support and performing basic network administration duties. As well as performing the technical tasks the person will also be required to document issues/requests and their resolution.
  • Support the computing infrastructure and applications used by Mcdermott including:
  • Support of Local Area Network.
  • Support of Personal Computers and Applications.
  • Basic Support for Engineering Applications.
  • Support for Printers and Wide Format plotters.
  • Implementation and training for various Corporate Software solutions.
  • Basic support for LAN Connectivity.
  • Support for J.D. Edwards OneWorld connectivity where applicable.
  • Support for the Office 365 all modules.
  • Provide support for client computer and communications as required.
  • Document Issues and Requests using an on-line Help Desk System (SNOW).
  • Provide implementation assistance for new infrastructure and software projects.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
  • Knowledge of Personal Computer hardware.
  • Knowledge of Desktop PC Operating systems.
  • Knowledge Server products and technologies.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet Network Protocols/Topologies and the ability to trouble shoot.
  • Knowledge in Wide area Data Communications would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft productivity applications including Excel, Word, Access, – Power Point, and Project.
  • Knowledge of basic communications technology including land based and wireless based communications solutions.
