About US:

Uganda Association of women Lawyers (FIDA-Uganda) is a membership-based feminist organization established in 1974 to promote and defend human rights with emphasis on women and children as beneficiaries across the country. FIDA-Uganda’s mission is to advance gender equality through the promotion of women’s and children’s rights and its priority areas include; to promote justice frameworks that are gender responsive; to enhance social justice economic empowerment and inclusion for women; to promote gender justice through strategic partnerships and to enhance the capacity of FIDA-Uganda as a center for legal excellence for women lawyers. It also advocates for policies and practices at the national, regional, and international levels that more effectively protect the rights of women. FIDA-Uganda operates nationwide with a Secretariat in Kampala and other satellite districts across the country.

 

Job Summary:  The Membership Development officer will develop and implement strategies that will ensure FIDA Uganda has a vibrant and growing membership; identify opportunities relevant to FIDA Uganda members such as fellowships ,trainings and consultancies follow up on members’ annual subscription payments and maintain an updated register; follow discussions on members’ platforms, ensure that members are engaged in FIDA activities; identify emerging issues and share with management; organise periodic membership forums, among others.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Honours degree in Law and or Human rights; Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or other related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in a professional membership organisation or networks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Mobilisation, lobbying and coordination skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience in using key computer applications such as excel, word, PowerPoint and online tools.
  • Analytical, strategic and ability to work independently in a fast –paced environment.
