Job Title:  Programs Assistant (Fresher Jobs)

Reports to: Programs Officer

 

About US:

Uganda Cancer Society primarily coordinates civil society efforts for a systematic contribution towards effective cancer control in Uganda through fostering collaborative advocacy, awareness creation, capacity building, research and patient support.

 

Job Summary:  The Program Assistant will implement UCS’s programs. In collaboration with the Programs Officer, s/he supports program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, communication as well as working with stakeholders in the program areas.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mobilise community members and stakeholders and create awareness for purposes of implementing program activities in the designated program area.
  • Coordinate field activities in close collaboration with the program officer and program stakeholders
  • Make sure that all program activities are implemented according to the approved activity plans and budgets
  • Provide organized accountabilities of activity implementation.
  • Write activity reports in accordance with UCS and donor requirements.
  • Carry out or facilitate trainings of community stakeholders in the identified capacity gaps
  • Support Uganda Cancer Society’s members to enhance strong collaboration in the program area
  • Support the program in resource mobilisation, monitoring and evaluation as well as budgeting and reporting
  • Work closely with local government authorities in the districts of Sheema, Bushenyi, Mbarara and any other districts that may be added to these.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a BA/BSc degree in Development studies, business, humanities and or other relevant disciplines, or; a diploma with extensive years of experience Upper
  • One to two years of experience in working with communities at the grassroots level
  • For Diploma holders, at least 3 years of practical experience is a MUST.
  • NGO experience is desired
  • Strong mobilization and community facilitation skills
  • Experience of working with and/or serving vulnerable groups
  • The applicant must be willing to travel to the program areas frequently
