About US:

Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.

 

About the Hi Innovator Program:

In line with the Hi-innovator Young Africa Works program, The National Social Security Fund is expected to build an effective business incubation/hubs network that can be leveraged to deliver effective entrepreneurship learning. Over the next 5 years, the NSSF Hi-Innovator program looks to target 132,000 youths attached to 20 hubs across the country, with a direct intention of touching the lives of 92,400 women employers and employees. To achieve the above target, we will have to;

  • Build capacity for 20 Hubs across the country.
  • Identify and nurture at least 100 scalable companies through the Hubs
  • Train at least 75,000 entrepreneurs (approx. 70% women) to enable them gain access to market and financing.
  • Support at least 500 startups with seed funding.
  • Use the NSSF brand to positively influence the financial sector to unify and support the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

 

Job Summary:  The Hi Innovator team is looking for an experienced Program Administrator for the Hi Innovator Accelerator to build pipelines and seed fund successful businesses while offering technical assistance. The successful candidate will work closely with the Hi Innovator accelerator workstream to identify, shortlist, and contract viable SGBs into the pipeline to achieve the program goals. The Hi Innovator Accelerator is an initiative that offers financial & non-financial support to scalable SGBs so as to tackle obstacles more effectively, speed up growth and achieve greater scale.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and supervise the activities of the Hi-Innovator accelerator initiative
  • Suggest revisions to program goals and objectives to meet the changing needs of program participants.
  • Overseas daily operations of a program and determines priorities in regards Business Development Support activities.
  • Document and maintain records of support offered to entrepreneurs. This includes but is not limited to one-on-one sessions, mentorship sessions etc. (Attendance sheet, meeting notes and action trackers)
  • Review entrepreneurs workplans, reports and program expenditures staying within budget limitations.
  • Participates in solicitation of funding requests from financiers in the Hi-Innovator Pipeline.
  • Complies with policies and procedures governing the program and ensures that the program is operating at maximum efficiency.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of the program initiatives and develops new methods aimed at greater success (Lessons learnt document tracker)
  • Reviews applications into the accelerator for potential pipeline on the IMS.
  • Completes all contracting obligations required for funding and approval by management for all SGBs in the program.
  • Develops sprint plans / roadmap on how to achieve quarterly goals of the program
  • Prepare detailed weekly timesheets as per the program template.
  • Facilitates educational workshops, meetings and conferences associated with the program.
  • Interacts with members of the community to help achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or the specific field associated with the program.
  • Certification in an area related to the program such as Accounting, Statistics & Project Management is an added advantage
  • Two years of experience working with accelerators or Entrepreneurship support programs or related projects.
  • Must be a mature and practicing Christian of integrity.
  • Public speaking skills: ability to communicate clearly to individuals, small and large groups.
  • Interpersonal professional skills: ability to cooperate and network on a multidisciplinary team.
  • Technical skills: Ability to set up and execute practical activities related to the UCU computer science curriculum.
  • Possesses excellent finance, accounting and budgeting skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be well-organized and to delegate work where appropriate.
  • Displays strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills.
  • Has exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Shows a talent for marketing as well as formulating and implementing innovative ideas for promoting the program.
  • Possesses exceptional public speaking skills.
  • Has the ability to encourage and motivate others, particularly when dealing with entrepreneurs
  • Demonstrates the ability to attract and recruit program participants.
  • Displays excellent networking abilities.
  • Ability to mentor and train Hub Partners and Staff
  • Highly motivated, independent, and committed to the highest ethical standards
