Job Summary: We’re looking for a People & Community Manager to join our team. If you’re an enthusiastic lover of building brands, communities and mobilising people, we’re looking for you.
As a People & Community Manager you’ll lead the growth and nurturing of our team & community through several initiatives. You’ll help build our online communities, including our WhatsApp and Slack Community Channels while recognising key contributors and empowering them in turn to lead within the community.
This is a cross-cutting role that interfaces with our talent relations, product, and marketing teams. As such, our ideal candidate has a wide range of skills and is able to speak the language of creatives, developers, and marketers amongst other groups. If you’ve worked with open source communities, all the better.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Experience
- Offer engagement and support to our talent community by being the primary point of contact for any questions, concerns or suggestions they have.
- Engage with the online community and respond to comments and requests.
- Host great in-person and online events to engage our talent and create value for them.
- Create engaging content for all platforms, including blog pieces, articles, social media posts, newsletters, and videos.
- Analyze web traffic and relevant community metrics.
Talent Acquisition
- Recruit new talent into Waape’s Talent Community
- Offer an engaging pre hire experience
- Constantly be researching and improving our recruitment channels
Talent Transformation
- Understand what talent levels are available on the market
- Build modules to address gaps between market available talent and current customer needs
- Measure the success of modules and constantly improve

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in managing a community (e.g., events, meetups, clubs, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with hiring and talent acquisition processes
- High-level understanding of technology and creative concepts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to building an open, diverse, and inclusive talent community
- Ability to define goals, measure results, and communicate impact
- Thought leadership or participation in the community experience community
- Awareness of community management software platforms
