With 1,800 staff, Enabel manages about 150 projects in twenty countries, in Belgium, Africa and the Middle East.
Background
Enabel in Uganda will be implementing a new Country strategy 2023-2027. The overall objective is that “Young people and women in Uganda develop into active, economically independent citizens in a sustainable society that respects human rights and ensures quality basic services’’.
The WeLearn project will support the lower secondary education through:through ensuring that households, communities and adolescents are aware of, demand access to, have equitable access to and complete a quality, inclusive lower secondary education. Secondly, the local education officials, school leaders and teachers will be supported to be able to provide an increased range of quality education services and resources, more equitable and inclusive learning environments, and higher quality, more relevant teaching and instruction for secondary students. To achieve this, the intervention intends to provide holistic support to secondary schools through creating a safe and gender-sensitive learning environment (appropriate infrastructure), provision of equipment, improving the skills of teachers through continuous pprofessional ddevelopment (CPD). Lastly, the intervention will strengthen local government and governing structures to promote more participatory and accountable education management and leadership, that is inclusive of socially excluded groups including girls, refugees, and people living with disabilities.
Job Summary: Within this this context, Enabel is seeking to recruit 1 (ONE) Project Manager with expertise in Education Management to manage the domains of the We Learn project, co-ordinate the different aspects of project implementation as well as to lead a team in the implementation of the country portfolio.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- You are responsible for the good execution of the project (content, planning, budget, quality);
- You coordinate the realisation of the activities with a view of achieving the project objectives;
- You support the persons indicated to lead the change process;
- You contribute to capacity development of partner organisations and coordinate the learning process on how an intervention contributes to the development of the sector;
- You lead the team placed under your hierarchical responsibility;

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Education Management, Adult Education, Public Administration, Human Resource Management or other relevant field related to the area of expertise.
- At least five years of relevant experience in steering international development projects;
- At least five years of relevant experience in the management of Education based projects;
- An experience as team manager;
- Experience in several projects is an asset.
- Required Skills and Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies;
- Thorough knowledge in the specific areas of equal learning opportunities, teaching and learning strategies, capacity building and mentorship;
- Knowledge of school policy development, continuous professional development (CPD) delivery modalities, school basedschool-based income generating projects, as well as safe and learning environment frameworks;
- Monitoring and evaluation competences;
- You are result oriented.
