Job Summary: The Manager, Corporate Bank is responsible for Developing, coordinating and implementing the Business Performance strategy of the Corporate Bank segment. And has prime accountability for sales and business strategy, so as to optimize the business potential within the Corporate markets by maximizing the existing segmented customer base, opportunities to move market share where applicable by segment and focus on customer retention in line with the Corporate banking business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Market Strategy
- The marketing and management of corporate customers with a turnover in excess of an amount to be determined per annum with particular focus on target customers.
- Creating quality risk assets for Corporate Banking Group type names.
- Extensively know and understand each customer’s business.
- Market and manage relationships for key suppliers, distributors and associate companies to target customers.
- Seek out information on new projects and programs being executed by these multilaterals and ensure that GTB partakes in these projects.
- Ensure that GTBank banks the value chain for all the relationships in Corporate Bank such as distributors and staff.
People Management
- Identify strengths and development areas within the staff and ensure that the relevant coaching/training is undertaken. Develop a pipeline of talent to ensure continued business development in the Bank.
- Effectively delegate authority and responsibility in line with business objectives to ensure the empowerment, motivation and effectiveness of all immediate subordinates.
- Keenly monitor and manage the performance and development of management and team leaders within the area. This includes conducting mid-year and annual performance appraisals as well as moderating all appraisals for the area.
- Foster an entrepreneurial approach to the business by way of example.
- Develop and maintain an open communication channel with immediate subordinates and support staff to foster teamwork and facilitate the change process.
- Drive the Talent Management in conjunction with area human resources.
- Coach for business performance within the area team.
- Foster and provide employment equity with specific attention to attaining affirmative action policies of the bank.
- Support and drive training interventions to address performance/development gaps.
Risk Management
- Ensure compliance to the Bank’s policies, systems and procedures in the region.
- Ensure NPL should not exceed 3% of total loan portfolio.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in a Business-related course with a with a minimum of Second-Class Upper Division from an accredited institution.
- Five to eight years of experience in banking, two of which must be in a senior relationship management position.
- Skills in Business strategy development & implementation.
- Seasoned relationship management and financial analysis skills.
- Ability to guide and develop the team.
- Have sound experience in business management.
