Job Title: Driver

Organisation: Uganda Heart Institute (UHI)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Administrative Officer

 

About US:

Uganda Heart Institute was legally established in 2001 as a Company limited by guarantee of its founding Bodies namely, Mulago Hospital, Ministry of Health, Makerere University and Uganda Heart Foundation. In UHI therefore commenced  operating as a semi-autonomous Unit under Mulago Hospital. The purpose of the registering UHI as a limited Company was to fasten the growth and development of the Institute, by enabling it to solicit for funds and manage its resources at source.

 

Job Summary: The Driver will be responsible for safe driving and maintenance of the project vehicles

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the project vehicles safely on the assigned routes
  • Transport goods or materials as instructed from time to time iii. Ensure safety and cleanliness of the Vehicles
  • Reports to Office Administrator the condition of vehicles and reports when the servicing is due
  • Carrying out Motor vehicle routine preventive maintenance vi. Keeps and ensures safety of all the vehicle documents, spare and tool box
  • Checks and reports any faulty mechanical conditions to the responsible Officer

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must have an O. level certificate with at least 3 credits
  • A valid driving permit/licence
  • Familiarity with GPS devices
  • Ability to lift heavy luggage and materials
  • At least three years’ experience of driving in construction projects or driving in reputable organizations keeping the up-to- date project vehicles logbook and preventive maintenance.
  • Evidence of training in defensive driving
