About US:
Masaka Vocational Training Institute (MVTI) is a Business Technical, Vocational Educational Training (BTVET) college that is currently under construction and development. It is located in Bugabira, Nyendo – Mukungwe Division, in Masaka City. MVTI will officially open in January 2023, and offering over ten (10) different BTVET and Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) approved vocational training and technical courses leading to the award of certificates and diplomas.
Senior Lecturer Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares the lesson plans and schemes of work in line with the approved curriculum on weekly and termly
- Conducts lectures and lessons for the trainees, and prepares the practical training workplans in according to the approved curriculum and set timetable
- Carries out continuous assessments and evaluation of the trainees working very closely with the course’s Principal Instructor
- Participates in setting, administering and marking internal and external theoretical and practical examinations
- Guides, counsels and mentors the students, trainees and learner
- Supervises the Principal Instructor on the course including taking part in the planning and organising material for practical training lessons
- Serves as the course / program Head of Department and class teacher
- Keeps and maintains class records and equipment
- Attends general staff meetings, management meetings, department committee meetings etc
- Arrange for lectures by experts in designated fields.
Senior Lecturer Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An Honors Bachelors’ degree in the subject you wish to teach as Senior Lecturer
- An additional qualification such as a Diploma or Certificate in Technical Teacher Education in the subject you wish to teach as Senior Lecturer would be an added advantage
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching / lecturing experience which should have been at the level of Assistant Lecturer / Assistant Instructor / Technical Teacher in a Tertiary Training Institution;

Principal Instructor Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Helping students develop a specific set of skills by creating lesson plans, assignments and exams
- Helping students learn how to apply their knowledge safely, monitoring their progress
- Design hands-on lesson plans that allow for students to learn how to use the tools, equipment, technology and techniques necessary to perform the tasks required of the job
- Developing teaching aids to accompany hands-on work by creating visual aids, providing homework assignments, developing study guides
- Advise students on career decisions, including providing guidance and suggestions regarding future coursework, possible specializations and other career-related topics
- Administer oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Observe and evaluate students’ work to determine progress, provide feedback, and make suggestions for improvement
Principal Instructor Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Diploma, Certificate or equivalent tertiary qualification at a level suitable for the position
- At least three (3) years’ experience working in a busy well equipped workshop or factory as a technician in the specific technical area or speciality
- Evidence of continuous professional development and training in the specialist area
- Good communication skills, organisation and collaborative skills and team work
