About US:
OKO is on a mission to assure income for those who feed the world. OKO (http://www.oko.finance) uses technologies to create and distribute affordable crop insurance products in emerging markets to protect smallholder farmers against climate risks. We use satellite weather information to analyse risk of specific events (e.g. drought, flood, hurricane) and create a parametric insurance product that compensates farmers as soon as this event is detected. OKO also uses mobile technologies (SMS, USSD, Mobile Money) to offer these insurance products to un-banked populations. As of September 2022, over 700 farmers are insured by OKO in Uganda
Job Summary: The Sales Manager is the number 2 in the local OKO entity, reporting directly to the Country Manager of OKO Uganda and the Global Chief Operating Officer. The Sales Manager will be responsible for a large team of up to 150 people (regional managers, sales agents, call center agents) The sales manager must constantly look for ways to motivate his team, find new distribution channels and improve sales performance. The ideal candidate should have experience building a distribution network for products such as mobile money, solar kits, agricultural inputs or agricultural services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing an easy to understand and rewarding incentive/commissioning scheme for agents, managers and our partners.
- Implement recruitment and training processes
- Maintain a full team of well-trained sales people
- Monitor team performance on a daily basis, rewarding top performers and replacing non-performing agents
- Monitor the quality of calls and report potential problems with solutions to the management team as they occur
- Provide reports to management
- Test new tools and methods such as sponsorships and gamification to find new sources of growth in revenue and sales
- Track call center performance
- Consistently manage customer relationships and expectations, ensure delivery of the highest quality service, solicit and solicit and act on customer feedback.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Four years of sales experience including 2 years of experience managing a sales team
- Languages: English or other local language is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to improve sales in a previous role
- Ability to speak publicly and represent the company to partners
- Very comfortable with Excel or other tools to monitor and analyze performance
- Willing to work with a package that includes a large variable portion (commission/bonus)
