About US:
National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) was established as the regulator of higher education to implement the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act of Parliament (UOTIA, 2001). By the provisions of the Act, NCHE is mandated to guide the establishment of institutions of higher learning as well as ensure delivery of quality and relevant education to all qualified persons.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engages in activities of the Department;
- Advises on all legal matters as required;
- Preparation of budgets and work plans for the Legal Services Department;
- Represents NCHE in Courts of Law as and when required;
- Prepares legal briefs/opinions as and when required;
- Brings to the attention of Senior Legal Officer any new legislation or trend or practice that may impact on the operations of NCHE;
- Supports the Development/Review of contracts, agreements, Legal Notices, MOU and/or other legal instruments to which NCHE is party to
- Supports in the planning and scheduling of activities of the Legal Services Department;
- Engages in the dissemination of reports of the Department;
- Carries out any other duties that may be assigned from time-to-time by the superiors.

- Court cases handled.
- Agreements/contracts witnessed.
- Awareness on legal matters undertaken.
- Departmental Annual budget reports;
- Work activity plans developed/implemented.
- Departmental reports generated.
- Research undertaken.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Holds a Masters’ degree in Law recognized by National Council for Higher Education
- Must be a High Court Advocate with a valid practicing Certificate recognized by the Law Council;
- At least three years’ working experience in legal work with a reputable institution;
- Must be ICT literate;
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of Higher Education regulation is desirable
