Food for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in Asia, Latin America and Africa with support offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to end all forms of poverty World-wide. In Uganda, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Project Officer, the Project Assistant will supervise all project activities; undertake correspondence work, together with project office and supported by sector heads provide training to caregivers, cascade volunteers, church leaders farmer groups, VSLAs and youths and children clubs and other project activities. He/she will participate in conducting surveys and assessments to determine training needs, mobilizing and sensitizing communities and stakeholders, forming beneficiary groups, designing and conducting training of beneficiaries in modern agriculture, business skills, essential Nutrition Practices, and post-harvest handling, supervision of the provision of seeds, tools, and other inputs. Visit/follow up of crop development, creation of market linkages, and periodically advise/support beneficiaries to ensure successful implementation of the project according to proposal log frames.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Education, Social work, Community development, Development studies or another approved field of study from a recognized university.
- A higher diploma with Early Child development bias is added advantage.
- At least two (2) years’ practical field experience working with communities and children in holistic, Social and spiritual Development
- Experience in teaching/training adult learners, working with cascade groups as a model of program delivery
- Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage
