Job Summary: The Project Coordinator will coordinate and oversee project implementation, monitoring, documentation, and participation in Child Protection and MHPSS as guided by WV Uganda policies. The incumbent will also be responsible for the smooth, cost-effective, efficient, and timely implementation of Child protection and participation, MHPSS while integrating COVID19 safety measures for both staff and POCs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Management
- Motivate and ensure teamwork among the Project Assistants and volunteers for greater ministry impact in the community.
- Coordinate and engage with the relevant stakeholders (OPM, UNHCR, and other partners) working within Child protection and MHPSS to promote participation and achievement of greater impact for mental health and psychosocial support interventions.
- Take full responsibility for the planning and the implementation of MHPSS activities using approved models (EASE, NCG).
- Monitor progress of activity implementation to ensure highest quality standards and accountability based on LEAP framework, the IASC and WVI standards
- Prepare detailed implementation plans based on approved and funded proposal and submit to Program Manager for approval.
- Develop regular monthly and end of project reports with support from the MEAL staff.
Technical and capacity building
- Enhance the capacity of partners, community structures and children in child protection and MHPSS using the NCG and PM+ model guidelines.
- Maintain standards for child participation, psychosocial sensitivity, Covid19 SOPs and ensure that response staff, partner agencies and recipient communities understand, accept and adhere to these standards.
- Support the Program Manager and M&E Team in establishing and maintaining a monitoring and evaluation system.
- Ensure that technical information pertinent to the project is obtained, documented and disseminated to staff as required.
- Work towards integrating Gender & disability, peace building and conflict sensitivity into child protection, MHPSS and ensure mainstreaming in all other project initiatives.
- Strengthen Community mobilization and participation in awareness and sensitization activities.
- Assist communities identify their priorities, opportunities and resources for effective participation, child protection and psychosocial project implementation.
- Facilitate communities to fully participate in project activities for enhanced community ownership and sustainability of child protection, psychosocial support and peace building programs.
- Facilitate awareness raising and sensitization of communities on referral, child protection, participation and psychosocial support while integrating Covid19 prevention and response messages.
- Enhance synergies within the communities to achieve integration and attainment of regional objectives.
Partnership, Networking & Advocacy
- Represent WV Uganda program in child protection, CFS Task force, participation and psychosocial forums at the field level and establish strategic partnerships with other organizations
- Establish and liaise closely with other partners, agencies and local leaders regarding project activities to ensure and promote a coordinated approach to project implementation, including participation in relevant workshops, meetings and to keep the Program Manager informed
- Develop a network of information gathering relevant to child protection, participation and MHPSS operations
- Establish appropriate contacts with local counterparts at the sub counties and district level to influence Child protection and MHPSS outcomes.
- UN specialist engagement in our program implementation
Financial management budget control and monitoring
- Work with the Program Manager and Finance officer in preparation of budgets, financial projections, expenditure monitoring and preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and narrative reports and submit them within the agreed timeframe.
- Support preparation of requisitions for appropriate project supplies in line with approved DIPs from time to time
- Ensure LDRs are signed by staff in time
- Support the audit activities for the project.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelors Degree within the field of mental health such as Psychology, Clinical/Community Psychology, Mental health, psychotherapy, or other relevant area
- MHPSS training desirable.
- Other: Bachelor in Social Work and Social Administration, Community development with additional training in MHPSS
- At least three (3) three or more years field experience working with communities in child protection and MHPSS programming and program management in an NGO context.
- Past exposure and experience with integrated Child Protection and MHPSS operations in humanitarian context.
- Past experience in working with communities
- Excellent analytical, documentation, problem solving, interpersonal ad negotiation skills
- Working knowledge of humanitarian industry including sphere standards, NGO code of conduct and humanitarian charter
- Very strong communication skills
- Possess the ability to work with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs to develop and maintain positive relationships
- Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible world view, emotional maturity and physical stamina
- Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychological stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
- Ability to cope and deal with stress and work under stressful work conditions is required
