Job Summary: The Market and Credit Risk analyst is accountable for developing and implementing policies and procedures that reduce Credit and Market Risk for the bank & managing the building of financial models that predict Credit & Market Risk exposure to the organi-zation. The Role Holder will be responsible for the oversight and management of the Bank’s Interest Rate Risk, Currency/Foreign Exchange Risk, Liquidity Risk and Credit risk as they relate to the Bank’s Banking and Trading Book.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support in Implementation of the new Basel 11 guidelines on liquidity, market and credit risk.
- Treasury limits Monitoring – weekly snap checks on Treasury limits. (Dealer, Counterparty, stop loss, Open position, CRR, Daily revaluation, System interest rates) acting as main middle office role holder.
- Verify daily Revaluation Rates used by Treasury in Marking-to-Market the Bank’s residual (end of day and carried forward)
- Trading Positions.
- Weekly Snap check on Treasury voice recording system.
- Review of Risk registers for Lending related departments,
- Finance and Treasury.
- Follow up of Internal audit Issues for Lending related departments Finance, and Treasury.
- Follow up of risk assessment recommendations under credit and market risk.
- Preparation of credit case studies for training purposes.
- Snap checks on branch credit processes
- Snap checks on custodial services operations
- Monthly review of credit products and associated risks
- Monthly review of Employer schemes and associated risks.
- Review of covenants monitoring process in Credit.
- Market risk snap checks.
- Review of new and reviewed credit product papers

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least an Upper second-class business degree in Risk, finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or any relevant field.
- Possession of a Certified market risk qualification.
- At least CFA level 2 qualification would be an added advantage.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
- Relevant Practical training courses in Market and Credit risk in the financial services sector
- Strong Mathematical background is an added advantage
- A minimum of five years of banking experience with at least 2 of it being in the Credit and Market Risk Management domain.
- Strong hands-on experience of market risk is an added advantage.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good understanding of Risk Management principles.
- Good understanding of Basel principles and evolving regulatory guidelines in this space.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills (hypothesis-driven thinking, analytical, quantitative, conceptual skills).
- Thorough understanding of the evolving practices for the management of credit risk and regulatory requirements.
- Capable of professional discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to source data, perform periodic computations & report on findings.
- Exposure to credit risk modelling is desirable.
- The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
- Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries.
- Takes clear accountability and focuses on delivery of corporate goals.
