Job Summary: The Maintenance Officer will be responsible for supervision and coordination of service providers/contractors in the maintenance and repair of: electrical, plumbing, ventilation and other building systems of the institution. Also to perform service evaluations on systems or facilities and determining what installation/repairs need to be addressed in enhancing a conducive working environment for UGAFODE.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proactively schedule for the periodic inspections, maintenance works and monitor any work undertaken to ensure that it’s done to the required institutional standards.
- Monitor daily/weekly, the performance of contractors and other service providers to enhance value for money for UGAFODE (MDI).
- Negotiate, agree and ensure cleaning services for the premises and monitor work carried out to ensure standards are met consistently.
- As the technical resource, maintains awareness of the best practice office procedures / of developments in office technology, facilities to ensure continued effective and efficient running of the company’s offices through training incoming staff and continuous guidance and coaching.
- Develop and submit daily/weekly monitoring reports on resolutions, incidents and any service/contractor accountabilities to management.
- Continuously regularizes contractor service Level agreements (SLA) for provision of maintenance services including fast tracking related payments with the relevant authorities.
- Proper Documentation of all maintenance aspects such as; preparation & filing all required paperwork arising out of contracting for accountability within the docket.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related course.
- At least two years of working experience in Facilities/Estate management and or contracting.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
- Intermediate skills in personal computer operation, word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
- Excellent time management, flexible and ability to work odd hours.
- Good decision making, ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
- High level of ethics and integrity.
- Good interpersonal skills and results oriented.
- Analytical and innovativeness.
