Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) is a leading sugar manufacturer in Uganda. KSL boasts of two (2) sugar estates, one in Kakira – Jinja and the other in Kayunga.
Job Summary: As a Network Administrator, your responsibility is to provide network support for the Company and Group of Companies. This is a hands-on technical position requiring knowledge of IP networks, Information Security. Technologies include IP networks, WAN technologies, LAN technologies, Wireless technologies, Network Security technologies, etc.
You will be supporting network infrastructure systems throughout the Company, Group of Companies, Data Centers, co-locations as well as end users. You will ensure the reliability, sustainability, and scalability of all network infrastructure as well as compliance with internal security policies. Willingness to be on call 24/7 and take on any other responsibilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain all network switches (Cisco, Dell, etc), routers, WAP, and firewalls.
- Configure and maintain VPNs and secure access to the network.
- Configure and maintain a network-monitoring platform,
- Maintain network infrastructure by performing network monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LAN) infrastructure issues. Excellent understanding of current networking systems including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, data circuits, wireless networking, web security, etc.
- Maintain the company’s network and connections to the Intranet and Internet.
- Manage and maintain network system control and access with firewall administration, inter-VLAN routing and switch administration, and wireless network administration.
- Excellent understanding of dynamic routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc.
- Excellent understanding of Layer 2 and layer 3 switching including VPC. VLAN HSRP
- Creating and managing storage, user accounts, and security.
- Proficient in scripting ESX Server deployments for remote installation and security in a VMware Virtualized Environment.
- In-depth knowledge of backup and disaster recovery.
- Experience with Windows Server Administration and active directory
- Ability to implement best practices and standards.
- Ability to mentor and train other team members in VMware.
- Experience documenting systems/solutions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Vmware Certifications- VCP-vSpehere, and/or VCAP.
- At least five years as a Senior Network Administrator
