About US:
The Inspectorate of Government (IG), was established in 1995 as a constitutional office. The IG’s mandate as per Articles 225,226 and 232 of the Constitution include: The promotion and fostering of strict adherence to the rule of law and principles of natural justice in administration, The elimination of corruption and abuse of authority in public offices and investigation of any act, omission, advice, decision or recommendation by a public officer, among other functions. The Inspectorate of Government is also charged with enforcing the Leadership Code of conduct.
Job Summary: The Inventory Management Officer will coordinate, manage stores inventory, handle receipts and issuance of stores in accordance to the laid down procedures and guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Inventory Management Officer will be responsible to the Manager Shared services in performing the following:-
- To receive, keep, retrieve and issue stores in accordance with the established procedures.
- To advise user departments on stock levels.
- To ensure stores inventory are identified by use of unique coding system for ease of location of item and accuracy of the stores.
- To prepare reports on the performance of the stores and make recommendations for disposal of obsolete or unserviceable stores.
- To manage the security and safety of the stores.
- To post and maintain stores records for receipts, issuances and items in the stock.
- To verify invoices against goods received notes.
- To undertake stock-taking and stock inspection.
- Monitor stock levels and noting any stocks which are running low and making requisitions to Procurement.
- Receive goods which have been procured, ensuring that the correct specifications have been delivered and entering items into the store according to procedures.
- Manage the operation of stores ensuring that requests by users are available at all times in sufficient quality and quantity.
- Always ensure the physical security of items in the store.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Degree in Business Administration or Commerce majoring in Procurement/Supplies/Logistics Management or Transport and Logistics Management or Procurement from a recognized institution or Professional qualifications from awarding Institutes such as Supplies Management (ISM), Certified Institute of Procurement and Supplies (CIPS) and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) (UK).
- Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in Government or reputable organization.
- Must be Computer Literate and shall be required to show proof.
- Experience in the management of the stores inventory.
- Ability and experience in building, leading and working with teams.
- Interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the institution.
- High Level of integrity.
- Age limit: 25 – 40 years
