Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The Data Clerk will be responsible for the daily maintenance and update of the key data systems, an essential part of our growing operation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for entering data in both excel and specific database and managing the incoming paperwork.
- Provides reliable, accurate, and timely data upload and entry into database systems (Excel, etc).
- Organizes and files paperwork associated with manual data capture.
- Flags and follows up with discrepancies in the data (manual and electronic collection).
- Contributes to development of pragmatic processes, policies and procedures.
- Data Collection Methodology and Validation
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness in data collection and upload
- Designs process flows and data capture methods across the business
- Assists in developing and implementing process changes across data capture
- Data Analysis
- Quickly breaks down business problems into theoretical questions
- Researches best method to approach and undertakes analysis with quality
- Applies existing data to business problems and evaluates areas of data unreliability
- Presents findings in digestible, action-oriented terms
- Data Visualization
- Designs visuals to the user of the report or dashboard
- Trains teams on practical use of visuals for decision-making
- Researches best fit for visuals to communicate desired story
- Project Management
- Completes planning and design with intention and thoughtfulness at project initiation
- Communicates with all project parties in a timely manner
- Delegates effectively to subordinates and project partners
- Team Management
- Approaches trainings with hands-on facilitation to ensure positive results
- Offers timely and helpful feedback to direct reports and supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or training certificate in relevant discipline
- Extremely detail oriented and organized
- Computer skills with a focus on excel
- Desire to learn a new computer program with speed
- Past experience with data entry and monitoring
- Excellent communication in English (spoken, written)- Luganda/Lusoga is an additional plus
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work within a changing environment and respond to different demands with a sense of urgency.
