About Posts:
Two trainees will be assigned to the Embassy’s Economic and Political Team. One of the trainees will be assigned to the embassy’s communications officer as well as the ambassador.
Communication
As a communication trainee, you will assist the embassy’s communications officer. The work will consist of updating and maintaining the embassy’s continued activity on digital media, including social media and websites, and also as an intern you will have to contribute to the implementation of the embassy communication strategy. It will give you insight into how Danish development works to increase agricultural productivity, climate resilience and agro-business. You will see how Danish companies operate in the African market and how we help promoting this.
The perfect candidate for the team has a special interest in the interface between climate change/environment on one part and business/economics on the other. Competences in business, trade and marketing are an advantage. Self-motivation, drive and excellent Danish and English writing skills are essential.
We imagine you study something related to societies, business, climate change or nature. This could be business administration, environmental and natural resource studies, agronomy, political science, African studies, or something related.
Politics and Governance
As an intern in the ‘Politics and Governance’ team, we expect you to have interest and competences in development and political analysis. The team reports on the political developments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen and is responsible for the country programme’s good governance program called UPGRADE – Uganda Programme for Governance, Rights, Accountability and Democracy. The team’s work consists largely of active dialogue with like-minded countries, which also deal with anti-corruption, democracy and human rights, just as EU coordination and cooperation with Danish and Ugandan civil society organisations is a high priority.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- That you are studying at a Danish bachelor’s or master’s programme.
- That you have a great interest in working in a developing country.
- That you are outgoing, willing to learn and ready to help with both strategic, independent tasks, as well as practical, day-to-day work.

It is expected that you can work independently as well as in collaboration with the team. We expect you to have a great interest in working in a developing country and a desire to understand how an embassy works.
- In addition, it is important that you are outgoing, willing to learn and possess a great degree of cultural awareness. Good phrasing skills are essential as well as flexibility and a positive attitude to the wide range of tasks the team works with. It is a requirement that you have strong oral and written skills in Danish and English, and good IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) are an advantage.
- To be considered, you must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s programme at a Danish or foreign university and remain enrolled throughout the internship. In addition, to apply, you must either be a Danish citizen or have an address in Denmark, have lived in Denmark for a minimum of three years.
