Job Title:    Driver (3 Job Opportunities)  

Organisation: National Building Review Board

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Administrative Officer

 

About US:

The National Building Review Board is a government agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport established by the Building Control Act, 2013. The Board is mandated to monitor building developments; ensure that the design and construction of buildings and utilities to which the public is to have access cater for persons with disabilities; oversee, inspect and monitor the operations of Building Committees; hear and determine appeals from persons dissatisfied with the decisions of a Building Committee; and to determine the fees to be charged by urban and district building committees for approval of plans, issue of building permits and occupation permits.

 

Job Summary: The Driver will provide transport services to the Board

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transport staff/visitors.
  • Collect and deliver documents and parcels to various destinations.
  • Carry out pre-driving checks.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle
  • Maintain proper records of fuel consumption and timely service of vehicles
  • Verify working condition of the vehicle at all times
  • Abide by the Transport and Traffic Laws
  • Check that the assigned vehicle has a valid road license, motor third-party/ comprehensive insurance and car-tracking devices (if installed).




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Ordinary Level certificate of education with a credit in both English and Mathematics
  • Valid driving license/permit
  • A certificate in defensive driving
  • Certificate in Mechanics is desired
  • At least four years of experience in driving in a reputable organization
  • Troubleshooting vehicle faults.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws.
  • Communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Team player
  • Listening skills
  • Customer care skills
  • Interpersonal skills
