Job Title: Senior Manager – Network Planning and Engineering

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mentoring a diverse group of Network planners to achieve maximum productivity.
- Leadership to ensure alignment to company vision and objectives
- Management to ensure agreed deliverables are achieved within time, cost and quality.
- Provision of guidance to Senior Transmission planning engineers and delegation of duties accordingly.
- Motivation of all staff on the team through coaching sessions on the team.
- Managing MTN approved service providers and subcontractors during Project implementation.
- Network quality, capacity, resilience aligned to business objectives.
- Appropriate technologies deployed in line with Network evolution and service requirements.
- Network plans and budget requirements.
- End to end solutions handed over to CPG for project Execution.
- Provide support to Network operations, other departments and where needed to improve service delivery and customer experience.
- Management and leadership for Transmission Planning staff.
- Timely reporting to Uganda Communications Commission, MTN Group, BRM and other departments requests.
- Coordination of ATC tower related and power requests for different transmission projects.
- Plan and optimize microwave transmission network equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure that access and transmission network plan records are properly maintained.
- Ensure that all transmission network targets and objectives are met according to the set KPI’s
- Prepare and manage annual rollout plan for Transmission, ensuring sufficient capacity, redundancy and resilience in the network to support the Business plan.
- Ensure new technologies are adequately budgeted for.
- Ensure new hardware complies with the network evolution plan and is fit for purpose before integration to the network.
- Ensure that Capital Projects implementation complies with current Transmission related business decisions and requirements.
- Approve nominal plans, capacities and determine priorities for Transmission network rollout.
- Plan and optimize PS/CS Core and IP core equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure that all PS/CS Core Network targets and objectives are met according to the set KPI’s
- Support Marketing and EBU in designing and implementing data products and solutions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the MTN Uganda Senior Manager – Network Planning and Engineering job must hold a Degree in Communication Systems/Telecom Engineering
- Nine years of experience in Telecommunications with 4 years as a manager in a network planning environment (Radio, Core, Transport)
- In depth on Network Technologies – Radio, Transport and Core.
- People Management and Development
- Project management
- MTN Toolkits.
- Systems performance management and supervision of the equipment of the telecommunication network.
- Network Design, O&M, Planning & Optimisation and Project Management.
- Telecommunication equipment and systems, functional modules, performance and signaling, as well as their compatibility and interconnectivity.
- Measurements techniques on equipment and services
- IP equipment and systems, functional modules, performance, and signaling, as well as their compatibility and interconnectivity.
- Systems performance management and supervision of the equipment of the telecommunication network.
- Advanced Computer Skills
- Analytical and systematic
