Yako Bank (U) Limited was incorporated in the Republic of Uganda in 2010 and licensed as a Credit Institution by Bank of Uganda in 2020. In September 2015, Yako got its license to operate as a deposit taking institution and started operations under the name Yako Microfinance (U) Limited. It upgraded to a Credit Institution in 2020 and was licensed to operate as Yako Bank (U) Limited. Yako Bank is owned by different shareholders and has been licensed by Bank of Uganda to provide savings and lending products to different clients.
Job Summary: The Head of Credit will be responsible for the overall management of the Credit department operations ensuring the growth of the loan book and portfolio quality management, including the underwriting and loan review analysis process, and all functions providing lending support, direction, credit information, and loan policies, procedures and processes to ensure the overall quality of Yako bank asset quality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Head of Credit Department
- Build and maintain a good-quality loan portfolio.
- Market the company products in line with the lending policies & procedures.
- Identify assess, train, and sensitize potential customers about loan products, amount, and period in line with the individual lending policies & procedures of Yako Bank.
- Disburse loans to clients on daily basis after the loan meeting in line with the set performance targets and the recommendations of the credit committee.
- Manage the relationship with customers in line with the lending procedures of Yako Bank.
- Compile and submit loan returns in line with the lending methodology of YBUL.
- Ensure submission of all returns to BOU, board, and Head Office in time.
- Conduct on-time loan recoveries.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Business degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics.
- Possession of a master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage or a Certified banking qualification.
- Aat least five years of experience in a senior managerial position in a Bank environment in the credit management function.
- Ability to handle a diverse loan portfolio and customer base.
- Candidates must be ready to undergo the mandatory fit and proper test by the BOU.
- Ability to lead the team
- Proven and extensive track record in credit from a financial institution.
- Highly organized person, with the ability to multitask with ease
