Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Head of Business Technology Operations, the Senior Manager – Infrastructure and Data Services will provide leadership in planning and managing business technology resources in the infrastructure, database administration and network operations units to ensure high degrees of availability and stability of services while optimizing costs, end user satisfaction and achievement of Bank’s digital strategy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop standard procedures to enhance scalability, modernization, and performance of existing database architecture.
- Manage availability and stability of data centers (Primary and DR) as well as resilience of IP Transport Network between data centres, branches, and service providers.
- Maintain database and infrastructure disaster recovery procedures to ensure continuous availability and speedy recovery in line with the bank’s defined RTO and RPO.
- Supervise installation, migration, and upgrade of databases as well as routine database management and maintenance tasks in line with approved processes and procedures.
- Manage IT resource requirements to ensure appropriate balance between tactical and strategic initiatives
- Implement IT continuous improvement programs in infrastructure and database management.
- Lead IT asset management team to ensure assets full lifetime cycle value is achieved.
- Manage strategic relationships with key IT product and service providers.
- Provide in depth technical expertise for both tactical and operational initiatives.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of up-to-date security and update protocols on infrastructure and databases.
- Provide oversight for the unit in mitigating, monitoring, and managing infrastructure and database related risks.
- Work closely with project team members and line manager for time allocation and prioritisation of resources to deliver on technology projects.
- Manage staff in an effective manner (hiring, motivation, retention, performance/rewards assessments, development/corrective actions etc.).
- Oversee timely and effective closure of related IT audit findings.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the DFCU Bank Senior Manager – Infrastructure and Data Services job must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or other numerical biased Degrees.
- Post graduate qualification in Information Technology.
- Professional certification in technology governance and/or leadership e.g., ITIL, CGEIT, CISM, or other relevant.
- A minimum of seven years of demonstrable working experience in a busy IT environment.
- 3+ years of team leadership experience.
- Experience in areas such as network design and administration, data center operations, database administration, and systems programming and administration.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
