Job Summary:  The Partnership and Grants Coordinator reports to the Head of Programme and collaborates closely with the Program Development advisors, finance and logistic managers.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Portfolio coordination, strengthening and maintenance.

  • Update country-specific program funding strategy with the WCH Uganda team.
  • Maintain mapping of key humanitarian actors, especially those relevant for War Child Holland’s programming.
  • Funding opportunity identification through research and networking, diversifying the range of contacts and opportunities with the help of country teams.
  • Contribute to strategic thinking on resource mobilisation/fundraising in cooperation with the team and ensure this feeds into global, regional and country strategies and guidance.
  • Maintain WCH online platform on grants management through feeding information timely.

Proposal Writing and Fund Raising

  • In collaboration with the Team, lead the development of concept notes, project proposals and budget; Support War Child Holland on grant management including donor policies and project administration/reporting requirements; have the necessary templates, tools, etc. to comply with these;
  • Liaise with Head Office in reviewing and approval process of donor and partner contracts, proposals and reports that cannot be approved at the Country level.

Partnerships Development and Management

  • Take a lead in the due diligence and partnership assessments
  • Support drafting MoU and teaming agreements

Representation and networking

  • Participate in and contribute to relevant internal networks, such as partnerships and fundraising;
  • Represent WCH in relevant resource mobilization / fund-raising fora, including relevant donor meetings as required.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in International Business & Development, or equivalent demonstrable experience in proposal development and management for social work and community development projects.
  • At least three years of work experience in the area of fundraising with institutional donors and grant and partnership management;
  • Knowledge of and experience in humanitarian programmes in Uganda;
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience on partnerships with at least 2 of the following donors: European Commission, ECHO, DFID, USG (including USAID) and UN agencies; additional experience with other donors such as SIDA, SDC and GAC is desirable;
  • Familiarity with key actors and demonstrated experience in developing, building and maintain strategic partnerships with these actors;
  • Proven track record in design and writing of winning grant proposals responding to grant solicitations in a limited amount of time; experience with technical programs in child protection, education and or MHPSS an advantage;
  • A good understanding of humanitarian principles and established international standards in humanitarian settings for refugees and other marginalised populations, especially children and youth;
  • Relationship-building, diplomacy and networking skills.
  • Excellent English writing ability and verbal skills for project proposals, reports and communications
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and empathy
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diverse teams from all backgrounds and level
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision
