About US:
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for people with disability in Uganda (CoRSU) was established in 2006 as a private non-profit, nongovernmental organization and is supported by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children as well as adults with disability.
Job Summary: Objective of the position: To carry out reconciliation tasks and support regular and corresponding financial reports. To assist the Head of Finance and the Accountants in keeping accurate, comprehensive and truthful records of financial transactions in the Hospital according to the accepted standards and practices of accounting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To handle specific daily/ monthly reconciliations for cash at hand, at bank, debtors, Creditors and other subsidiary accounts as assigned.
- To assist the team in keeping records of cash received and payments made.
- To assist in financial data verification of entries and making pay offs made for project debtors and grant subsidies.
- To check records entered in patients ‘cash receipts’ & ‘refund journals’ and sign them off
- To assist in preparing summary reports of income and expenditure in the formats required before the fifteenth day of the following month
- To assist in providing all the necessary information for the preparation of detailed regular financial reports, inclusive of monetary value of stocks and fixed assets.
- To assist in ensuring that all finance files are updated concerning all relevant data entries, filing as well as photocopying as required.
- To assist in both the external and internal audit work especially participating in regular stocktaking.
- To make timely posting of financial transactions in tally accounting system and file marker.
- Be punctual at all times and observe the obligations given in the employee HR policy
- Adhere to CoRSU policy concerning break times and all other regulations stipulated in the Employment Manual, standing orders, or memos letters
- Maintain tidiness of the allocated department
- Must always practice universal precautions
- Demonstrate respect for patients and their families regardless of tribal origin, gender, race, age, religion, disease process, or financial status
- Other Assigned duties
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration/Commerce (Accounting option)
- ACCA/CPA level II qualification and a registered member of the professional accounting body (CPAU or ACCA)
- Knowledge of the standards for the Professional Practice of Auditing and Accounting
- At least two (2) years’ experience with debt management and reconciliations
- Thorough knowledge of Ms Excel or other financial related databases such as Tally.
- Knowledge of computerised software. e.g Tally
- Excellent writing, communication, presentation, reporting and social skills
- Experience in working in the NGO/Not-for-Profit sector.
- Good understanding of disability.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail and able to work under tight deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of internationally accepted rules governing procurement of goods and services.
