Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support in the coordination of stakeholders and operation of key technical platforms such as the Self-Care Expert Group, National Drug Shop Task Force, HIUD task force that are delivering on specific PSI Uganda and Ministry of Health objectives
  • Facilitate continuous coordination and tracking of PSI Uganda’s meaningful participation and representation in the various networks, coalitions, working groups and task forces, led by the MoH and partners.
  • Identify new and collaborate with cross department teams to update the partnerships database in line with the program implementation needs and the platform strategic plan
  • Support meaningful and impactful partnerships as well as cascading advocacy efforts at the sub-national levels with guidance from the regional teams
  • Collaborate with cross department teams to track implementation of risk management strategies and monitor operational context for external threats
  • Maintain on-going knowledge and analysis of the SRHR global, regional and local policy and practice, to inform the delivery of PSIU’s advocacy work
  • Advise on the development of relevant advocacy materials such as policy briefs, documentaries, fact sheets and papers to support PSIU’s representation and influencing at events at national and sub-national levels
  • Collaborate with SIL and Communications PSIU workstreams in documentation of PSIU implementations, including gathering stories, best practices and lessons learned, and disseminating these both internally and externally
  • Prepare and submit periodic program/ projects reports to the PSIU senior management team, and key stakeholders
  • Ensure that advocacy and partnership interventions/activities are appropriately documented to facilitate effective monitoring, evaluation and learning

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelors’ degree in public health, development and related fields is essential • Additional training in Project Planning and management is an added advantage
  • At least 3 years of experience working in advocacy and or public affairs in the field of health and human rights aimed at influencing legal, policy and practice change
  • Knowledge of health issues with specific interest and skills in the SRHR
  • Advocacy/stakeholder engagement experience and demonstrated results of influencing others to advance health and human rights issues
  • Ability to work autonomously combined with experience working remotely to support sub-national partners to achieve institutional advocacy goals
  • Experience developing and managing efforts to influence policy makers, NGOs and other external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, writing, editing and verbal skills for communicating with broad and diverse stakeholders
  • Effective as a collaborator in complex internal and external organizations
  • Ability to work with efficiency and diplomacy
  • Proven ability to build and cultivate strong relationships
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and identify when to escalate an issue or call out risk
